About SPARK

Built for the Realities of Jamaica and CARICOM

SPARK is an AI-powered disaster communication and energy resilience platform. It gives communities a way to report hazards, receive automated situation reports, and stay connected to power and information when a storm knocks out the usual channels. The platform grew directly out of Hurricane Melissa, which caused an estimated $8.8 billion USD in damage — equal to 41 percent of Jamaica’s 2024 GDP.

Why It Matters

Why Resilience Technology Couldn't Wait

The Challenge

Hurricane Melissa caused an estimated $8.8 billion USD in damage — 41 percent of Jamaica’s 2024 GDP. That scale of loss made clear that resilience technology could not be an afterthought bolted onto disaster response.
